SoftBank invests £390m in virtual simulation startup Improbable

British virtual simulation startup Improbable has been the recipient of over £390m of investment, led by Japan’s SoftBank. The investment is considered to be one of the largest to have ever been made in a fledgling European tech firm and values Improbable at over $1bn. The company, founded five years ago by Cambridge computer science graduates, uses cloud-based software to create virtual worlds for use in games as well as large-scale simulations of the real world. Spatial OS, Improbable’s first product, has been in live beta since March.
